Health questions

Nausea in virtual reality can be caused by several reasons. For example, poor technical design (inappropriately, even amateurishly programmed application with long latency or poor quality HW). This can be ruled out in VR Vitalis. Senior IT and healthcare professionals are working on the application. Another reason may be the intolerance of virtual reality, which decreases with the number of uses, it can be used to it, possibly supported by ginger lollipops, etc. And probably the most common reason is the mismatch of movement between virtual reality and the real one (you move in VR and not in reality). These are different games like roller coasters etc. We make sure that the motion is synchronized with the real reality. It's not just with one module, Walk for the Non-Walker, which is built on the principle of mirror neuron activation and is purposefully built on this mismatch. Here again, slow habituation or the support of anti-nausea supplements (such as when driving in a car, etc.) helps.

We recommend 5 minutes for the first exercise and then gradually extend. The maximum exercise time should not exceed about 30-40 minutes. A lot depends on the patient's condition and how he/she handles virtual reality.

Nausea can have several reasons - the patient is not accustomed enough, the room is too warm, he uses a module where the shift in the real world does not equal the shift in virtual reality. First aid is to close the eyes or take off the glasses as quickly as possible. In case a module for non-ambulatory patients is used, which stimulates mirror neurons, we can prophylactically offer, for example, a ginger lollipop, which suppresses nausea. The important thing is to get patients used to it gradually. The brain gets used to the virtual reality very quickly and usually by the 3rd use, patients no longer feel any discomfort. Certainly do not try to persuade the patient to continue when they are not feeling well.

The modules are prepared by a team of experts as universal for use in different rehabilitation scenarios. Because it is not always just the diagnosis that matters, but mainly the individual condition of the patient and also their preferences. Therefore, we recommend that the modules are always built into the exercise plan by a physiotherapist or a doctor.

In our application, we do not only work with images, as is usually expected from virtual reality, but also with other senses. Especially sound - whether it is music or sound background of individual environments or sound alerts for certain stimuli. In addition to images and sound, we also use touch in some modules, or vibrations that can be emitted by the controllers.

We do not yet sell the VR Vitalis product directly for home use. You can try renting through our partner Invira, who will familiarize you with the product in detail and lend you a VR headset.

Sure. You can purchase even one single module for a period that suits you. And in addition, you can change the modules every 3 months.

Of course, you can use our VR glasses and display device setup service. Training and assistance with implementation is a matter of course. We also offer SLA.

The transmission to the display device does not work.

The modules are prepared by a team of experts as universal for use in different rehabilitation scenarios. Because it is not always just the diagnosis that matters, but mainly the individual condition of the patient and also their preferences. Therefore, we recommend that modules should always be built into the exercise plan by a physiotherapist or doctor.

With active use, the glasses last about 2.5 hours. An external battery can be purchased to extend the charge by 2 to 3 hours. The controllers use alkaline AA batteries and last quite a long time (in the order of weeks to months).

That is certainly not a problem. We even provide you with detailed instructions.

You must have an Oculus Quest 2 VR headset, a wi-fi connection, and if you want to stream to a display device, a display device (tablet, smartphone, computer or TV). And of course a purchased license for VR Vitalis.

A lot depends on the individual modules. The optimal free area is 3 x 3 meters. VR Glasses can handle up to 15 x 15 meters, which is mainly used for lower limb exercises. For patients who exercise sitting or lying down, a smaller space is of course sufficient for the span of the upper limbs. It is just important to always check that there are no obstacles in the exercise area that could cause the patient to trip or injure themselves.

The easiest way is to wipe the parts of the glasses that touch your face and the controllers with a disinfectant wipe after each use. It is important to use a silicone cover for the face, which disinfects well (as opposed to foam ones).
